Sumptuously decorated, the hotel offers all the warmth and comforts of a stately home, combined with all the contemporary creature comforts you would expect of a first class hotel. The four acre walled garden and surrounding 20,000 acre estate supplies the hotel with fresh seasonal produce, and award winning cuisine is served in Samuel's Restaurant with views over the parkland and ornate gold leaf ceiling.
Luxurious and with 4 red stars and 3 rosettes (AA) this is one of the most highly rated hotels in the country. The cookery school offers day and residential courses throughout the year, and there is also a Bird of Prey Centre, offering flying displays and falconry experiences. Other country pursuits include fishing, golf, shooting, riding and walking and there is a spa with five treatment rooms.
The bedrooms, are individually designed and decorated on the theme of a Yorkshire town, dale, castle, abbey or garden, according to the aspect of the room. All rooms are equipped with two direct dial telephones, a modem point, CD player, satellite TV, trouser press, drinks tray and coffee/tea facilities. Six of the thirty one bedrooms are suites and the Turret Suite is on three floors with a (steep!) staircase between. A lift serves both first and second floors. Four of the ensuite bathrooms are equipped for disabled use. A new Family Suite, the Semerwater, complete with double bath and sofa bed and an adjoining room for children will be available from January 2012.

There is also the cookery school with residential courses run by celebrity chef Rosemary Shrager, and the day and weekend courses by Robert Taylor. The Bird of Prey Centre is a particular attraction, and children enjoy indoor and outdoor play facilities.
