Welcome to The General Tarleton Inn near Knaresborough, a beautifully presented 18th Century former coaching inn offering scenic views across the North Yorkshire countryside. With a reputation for excellent cuisine, quality accommodation and outstanding service, The General Tarleton is the perfect base for a holiday or short break to North Yorkshire. York, Harrogate and Knaresborough are all just a short drive away. We are pleased to offer 13 quality ensuite guest rooms and a full Yorkshire breakfast is included and served in the Orangery.

Our guest rooms are all individually styled and offer complimentary Molton Brown products, flat screen TV, free wifi and hospitality tray with home-made biscuits. For our less mobile guests, we offer six ground floor bedrooms. Children are welcome and are charged at £30 per night each when sharing a room with their parents. A fine range of locally sourced cuisine is served at The General Tarleton by the award-winning chef John Topham and his team. The Brasserie is open for both lunch and dinner and we also offer a special menu for the children and Family Simple Suppers. Private dining is available in The Rafters dining room for up to 32 people and private parties including celebrations, business meetings and wedding receptions are all welcome. Guests can also relax and unwind in The Cocktail Bar in front of the wood burner stove or in the pretty gardens during the warmer months.
