Information

If you love history and a wonderfully brewed pint of ale then you will enjoy a great day out at the Theakston Brewery in Masham! Here in our visitor centre you can discover the story behind the legendary ale starting from it founders in 1827, father and son duo Robert and Thomas Theakston. You will also learn about the famous Theakston ale 'Old Peculiar' and its link to a story from the time of the Crusades!

Enjoy touring the brewery itself and seeing how we make our delicious ales. You will be led by a trained tour guide who will show you the complete brewing process, starting with blending the ingredients, then filling the casks, to the cooper's work of transforming straight pieces of oak into a curved vessel that holds the beer. Of course the best thing about visiting the Theakston Brewery and Visitor Centre is after the tour when we invite you to have a pint of our ale straight from the brewery tap!

Unique Features

In our brewery tap you can sample one of our legendary beers, there are always six different freshly brewed cask ales available to try! Look out for our seasonal ales and don't forget our famous 'Old Peculiar'!

Specialities

If you're planning a special occasion, we do private evening tours & parties for groups of 20-50. The evening tours include as much beer sampling as you like and cost £13.75 per person, catering can be supplied in addition.
