The West Yorkshire Playhouse opened in 1990 and has in that time established a national and international reputation for the highest standard of performances and providing a thriving focal point for the communities of West Yorkshire. A variety of plays have been performed, from West End transfers such as Othello featuring Lenny Hengry, to The Postman Always Rings Twice, to the Olivier award winning The 39 Steps. The theatre also offers costume hire, so whether you want to be a Victorian aristocrat or recently exhumed zombie, we can help you create the look you are after. The playhouse is also home to a restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as a bar open from 5.30pm until well after the show finishes. We also offer theatre hire and conferencing for corporate and business use and our Creative Educational team run a comprehensive range of activities for students and schools, from early years to further education and higher education institutions.
