For a fun family day out near Leeds, visit Temple Newsam House and Farm. This stunning Tudor-Jacobean house is an excellent visitor attraction for young and old alike, with plenty to see and do. The estate consists of 1500 acres of parkland, farmland, woodland and gardens, and is home to a wealth of wildlife for visitors to see. The Home Farm has a collection of farming and gardening objects, as well as a variety of livestock for visitors to meet and feed. For families, we have a range of activities including tours, quizzes and hands on activities to ensure all visitors have a memorable and interesting visit.
Parts of the house date back to the 11th century, and the house was the birthplace of Lord Darnley, the second husband of Mary Queen of Scots. The house has a large collection of historic objects, from Silver and Gold products, historic wallpaper and furniture. Temple Newsam hosts a range of exciting events, from concerts, shows and festivals to guide tours and exhibitions, and is also the ideal location for educational visits.
