Property Information

The Mansion House is an architectural masterpiece, located in York city centre and home to the Lord Mayor of York during his term of office. In 1998 the Mansion House was restored by York Civic Trust and underwent an amazing transformation to bring it back to the standards worthy of housing its extensive collection of civic regalia and artefacts. The remarkable collection of Silver, paintings and furniture is unrivalled by any other city.

The Mansion House is an exclusive venue, providing a stunning location no matter the event. Each room has its own distinct character and will enhance your occasion whether its a dinner, reception or training day. The property can accommodate up to sixty guests and is fully wheel chair accessible. We also have a select number of caterers available who will provide an excellent service.

Unique Features

Visitors will experience time in the life of the Lord Mayor by tasting the food and drink they enjoyed, to finding secret compartments on a bureau and also seeing where the chamber pot was kept. The house is open for guided tours every Friday and Saturday at 11.00am and 2.00pm for up to 30 guests per tour and with refreshments provided. Tours start from the first weekend in March to the last weekend before Christmas.

Specialities

We are giving the opportunity for pre-booked groups to see one of the finest collections of civic Silver on one of our Silver Tours. Items ranging from Gold goblets to Silver chamber pots can be viewed and visitors will also have the opportunity to see the main rooms in the building.
