The Rotunda is a unique museum being one of the oldest purpose built museums in the United Kingdom and the only one whose architectural design encompassed a new science – the science of geology. Opened as the Scarborough Museum in 1829, the museum was reopened in 2008 following an extensive redevelopment.
The Rotunda overlooks South Bay close to the sea front and hosts a range of exhibitions and a full calendar of events throughout the year. The Rotunda Museum is fully accessible and support dogs are welcome. Induction loops are available.
