Historic medieval fortress in the Yorkshire Dales. Remarkably intact, once used to imprison Mary Queen of Scots in 1569. Guided tours, civil weddings, days out.
Bolton Castle is a spectacular medieval fortress in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The castle is open from Easter until the end of October and is available for private hire throughout the year. We cater for school groups, offering anything from a guided tour to a full medieval education day, including costumes, a banquet and a range of activities. We offer themed events such as Sir John Savile’s Household Weekend, a medieval re-enactment camp. Our gardens are second to none and our ghosts are well worth a visit for any paranormal investigators.
We have Civil Wedding, drinks and entertainment licenses. If you choose Bolton Castle as your wedding venue, you can have the ceremony and then the reception - we offer exclusive hire of the castle with the wedding package. We have a list of preferred suppliers and can reccommend some very good event managers. Please contact us to discuss your personal requirements. The gardens feature high stone walls and medieval planting, making for a beautiful and fragrant outdoor venue.
The Tea Room at Bolton Castle offers delicious sandwiches, light lunches (served all day) and cakes. Almost all of our produce is either homemade or locally sourced. We have a large selection of hot and cold drinks including herbal teas, cappuccinos and organic fruit drinks and cordials. We serve local bitters from both the Black Sheep and Wensleydale breweries and wine is available by the bottle. We ask that large groups telephone in advance. We now also feature a deli stocking delicious local produce.
Bolton Castle offers events, educational activities, beautiful gardens and a tea room serving tasty refreshments. We can host weddings and conferences and Bolton Castle offers great opportunities for filming or photo shoots.
