Library in Leeds city centre with an excellent selection of historic books, periodicals, DVDs & audio/visual items. Membership open to all, family rates.
The Leeds Library is a wonderful mix of old and new in a busy shopping centre in the city centre. We have an estimated stock of over 140,000 books which is particularly strong in travel, biography, history and literature. There are long runs of periodicals, popular novels and children's books and special collections of Civil War pamphlets and Reformation Tracts. The library was established in 1768 and today adds about a thousand new items each year with many items of particular importance and historic interest.
Membership is open to all and entitles you to borrow most of our books published after 1900, as well as a wealth of interesting resources to delve in to. You can borrow up to 30 items including DVDs, audio/visual items and magazines. Please see our website for more information on joining the library. You can also visit the library as a researcher without being a member.
