Property Information

Sid’s Cafe is the cafe made famous by ‘Last of the Summer Wine’ - the world’s longest running sitcom which began in 1973. With its distinctive white frontage, red ‘cafe’ sign and green gingham curtains it is instantly recognisable as the cafe frequented by Compo, Clegg and Foggy. Our facilities include seating for 26 people inside and seating for 8 outside the front of the cafe in the churchyard. We also have a sunny (weather permitting!) teagarden at the back of the building with three picnic benches and a table providing seating for 24. There is a customer toilet on the ground floor. Children, walkers and cyclists are very welcome - muddy boots are ok! We are happy to provide child sized portions of most items on our menu - please ask. We also have a high chair.

Sid’s Cafe is a real cafe and is open every day (apart from Christmas Day and when filming takes place). The cafe used to be a fish & chip shop and was being used as a paint store for the ironmongers next door when the BBC spotted it in 1973. When fans of the series began coming to Holmfirth expecting to find a genuine cafe the owner decided to turn it in to one! Disabled access - please note there are two steps from the pavement up into the churchyard then one step up into the cafe. There is wheelchair access to the teagarden. We are happy to move chairs out of the way in order to accommodate wheelchairs/walking frames etc. Unfortunately we are only able to accommodate guide dogs / hearing dogs inside the cafe. Other dogs are welcome out the front / in our tea garden and we are happy to provide a bowl of water. We have a menu in large print or staff are happy to read out the menu - please ask. If you would like to hire out Sid’s Cafe for a private event please phone us for details. Although full english breakfast is not on the main menu we can provide this type of breakfast at 9am if pre-ordered for parties of 6 or more.
