The Black Swan at Oldstead is a 16C Inn set in beautiful rolling countryside near Byland Abbey in The North York Moors National Park. It is one of only four restaurants to be newly listed as a 'Rising Star' in The Michelin Great Britain & Ireland 2011 Guide and has been awarded Three AA Rosettes in January 2011. The restaurant has also been awarded AA Pub of the Year for England 2010/11, Taste of York Award 2010 and The Yorkshire Life Dining Pub of the Year 2010/2011. The Black Swan at Oldstead is the only Restaurant with Rooms in Yorkshire with 5 AA Yellow Stars and a 3 AA Rosette restaurant - gaining a reputation as one of the best places to eat and stay in Yorkshire.

The original building dates back to the 16th century and is set on the edge of the small village of Oldstead amidst beautiful rolling National Park countryside. A quiet haven away from traffic and main roads, the perfect place to relax and unwind. The restaurant has a comfortable friendly atmosphere with oak floors, Persian rugs, antique furniture and soft lighting from traditional candles in old brass holders, giving a feeling of understated quality. The characterful bar has stone flagged floors, an open log fire, oak fittings by Mousey Thompson Craftsmen of Kilburn, window seats, soft cushions and antique furnishings. Food is available either in the restaurant or the bar or on the oak tables outside. Oldstead is an ideal place to stop for a break while visiting the nearby Kilburn White Horse, Byland Abbey, Shandy Hall and Ampleforth College.
