Gay Friendly Yorkshire Hotels and Accommodation Yorkshire
Yorkshire, you may think, is not exactly renowned as a gay mecca, however there are some well established gay scene communities in Yorkshire, particularly beautiful Hebden Bridge, and there's some well kept secrets emerging in the county, particularly on that sunny Yorkshire coast, with it's superb Victorian eccentricity! Scarborough is home to the exquisite deco Stephen Joseph Theatre, and some gay friendly guesthouses have links with the theatre, offering special theatre packages. Scarborough's gay scene is perking up nicely, with Whitby hot on the tail. Leeds of course has a well established gay scene, and you'll discover lots of gay friendly clubs and bars in other Yorkshire cities like Bradford, Sheffield, Hull and York. Places like Hebden Bridge and Todmorden rank as top gay friendly venues in Yorkshire. Halifax needs to get it's skates on a bit though!! Check out 'Shout', Yorkshire's own Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Paper which provides an excellent guide to gay friendly venues and events around Yorkshire.

Gay Guesthouse and Gay Friendly Accommodation
Ah, the twin bed nightmare! Gay friendly accommodation means a warm and friendly welcome to gay and lesbian guests, usually located close to gay bars, gay saunas and gay clubs. Some gay friendly accommodations may be gay owned, some not.
Know what you want before booking, make it clear to the hotel, guesthouse or accommodation owner and this way you're more likely to end up with the perfect gay friendly accommodation venue for you! There's always a bit of luck involved if you're visiting an area for the first time!
Some gay friendly guesthouses may be exclusively gay, some gay friendly welcoming all. Check out 'Gay Times. Great Britain and Ireland', by John Szponarski for some useful tips or the Spartacus International Gay Guide.
Yorkshire Gay Scene
A large gay and lesbian residential population always boosts the gay scene, and Hebden Bridge is not just a gay mecca and self proclaimed lesbian hub of the North, but a radical centre for environmental issues and protest. Oh, and there's the specialist shopping as well!
'To pass out, free, O joy! Free, to flow down, to swim in the sea of Equality', said Edward Carpenter. Know your rights and check out the following Gay Travel links for top tips on having the perfect Gayawayday. Check out particularly Andrew Collins' 'Gay Traveller's Pet Peeves', with advice on how to avoid that hotel bedspread!
