Choosing Yorkshire hotel accommodation usually means you're opting for a more traditional and formal type of accommodation, with standard facilities and guaranteed service. There is much variation between hotels in terms of type, size, location, price and function.
Some large Yorkshire hotels may be run by groups and offer the same standard of service and the same facilities across the hotel group. Others may be privately run, with more personal service and perhaps a little more historic Yorkshire character. Before booking your hotel, think about your needs?

Hotels in Yorkshire
In Yorkshire most large hotel groups can be found in Yorkshire cities such as Leeds, Bradford, Sheffield and York. Harrogate has a particularly good range of conference and luxury hotels. Group consortia hotels generally offer excellent leisure and conference facilities, with all en-suite rooms, function rooms and some may be licensed for civil wedding ceremonies. Country house hotels usually pertain to some historic character and are usually set within their own grounds, offering perfect wedding and event settings. Townhouse hotels may be a little smaller, but benefit from close proximity to town centre attractions.
Small Yorkshire hotels will range in size up to 20 rooms. Smaller hotels have more of a guesthouse feel, where you're assured a little extra attention, but with all standard amenities you'd expect from hotel service, including in-house bar and restaurant service . Most are family run and privately owned, with a more relaxed atmosphere than a large hotel.
Medium hotels range from 20 to 50 rooms, and with increased size comes more services such as staffed reception, room service, sometimes in-house entertainment, and some leisure facilities. As hotels become larger, decor generally becomes more uniform, which may suit for conference events. Large Hotels wil have more than 50 rooms. Some may be privately owned, but many with be part of hotel groups, offering the benefit of knowing what to expect as consortia generally offer the same services across their range of hotels. With large hotels, you can often benefit from discount deals, or voucher and points schemes which are particularly useful for frequent business guests, or if you take may weekend breaks. In luxury large Yorkshire hotels, expect extensive leisure, health and beauty facilities - with the obligatory indoor swimming pool, conference facilities, in-house entertainment, internet access, staffed 24 hour reception service, plus usually good disabled access with lifts to all floors and often adapted rooms for disabled guests.
In England we now have an amalgamated rating system for accommodations. For Hotels, the star rating system applies and whether it's ETC, RAC or AA star ratings, they all follow the same definition below, which is good news and avoids confusion. These definitions apply only to England, not Scotland and Wales which have their own hotel rating systems. The Star rating scheme is awarded from one to five stars for hotels. The rating reflects on issues of quality including customer care, the range of services available, and the variety and standard of facilities. As a basic minimum the one-star hotel has guaranteed at least 75% of bedrooms with en-suite or private facilities. For those rare five star hotels, guests are assured of luxurious and spacious accommodation to the highest standards of international quality, accompanied by service excellence and superior cuisine. A hotel with a two star rating will include all criteria of a one star hotel, plus additions, and a three star hotel will include all two star hotel services plus extras and so forth. When you see a star rating you know that the hotel has been visited overnight and anonymously by qualified inspectors working to the same high standards, making it easier for you to identify quality accommodation you can trust
One Star Hotels - with a One Star Hotel rating guests can be assured of a high standard of cleanliness and practical, ample facilities and services.
