Hotels, Guesthouses and Inns with Restaurants in Yorkshire
Most hotels in Yorkshire and some guesthouses, large and small, have in-house restaurants these days serving a variety of healthy daily menus which cater for various specialist diets including vegetarian, vegan, gluten free food and religious specialist diets such as Halal. It's always best to check when you book, especially if you're booking into a small guesthouse or B&B as usually they will need prior notice for any special dietary needs.
In Yorkshire the choice will amaze. Choose from the increasing number of renowned restaurants now providing luxury accommodation on-site, so you can relax and enjoy superb gourmet fine dining cuisine with your accommodation conveniently above the restaurant. Move into Yorkshire cities such as York and Bradford, and you may choose a historic guesthouse located near many restaurants.
York is particularly good for choice, offering a selection of vegetarian and international cuisine. Across the Yorkshire Dales and West Yorkshire why not choose a pub or small inn serving wonderful traditional home cooked food accompanied by fine ales. Move over to the Yorkshire coast, or Yorkshire cities and towns where there is ample choice of large chain hotels or country hotels offering superb function, event and banqueting facilities, offering catering for large parties with a choice of menus.

Vegetarian, Vegan & Specialist Diets in Yorkshire Accommodation
Vegetarian and vegan diet requirements are the norm these days so hotels, guesthouses and other accommodation venues will usually offer menus to suit all tasts. Across Yorkshire you'll find guesthouses, group centres and bunkhouses, and B&Bs which specialise in vegetarianism which is good news.
Look particularly at parts of West Yorkshire such as Hebden Bridge and Todmorden. You'll find a greata selection of organic food menus here. Check out Yorkshire cities like Leeds, Bradford and Sheffield, or superb Huddersfield. As you'd expect from such multicultural cities and towns, the choice of restaurants in both accommodations and in city centres will amaze.
Guesthouses are increasingly springing up offering vegetarian and gluten free breakfasts - we need more of them!! Check out the Vegetarian Society UK's website at vegsoc.org for further info.
Fine Dining Yorkshire Style
Many restaurants in Yorkshire with B&B guesthouses and small hotels are family run, offering a sumptuous choice of fresh local produce, often organically grown. So, if you're looking for romantic dinners for two, or hearty homecooked Yorkshire food choose a Yorkshire guesthouse.
There's some fabulous large character historic hotels in Yorkshire, particularly in coastal spots like Scarborough, Whitby and Bridlington, where hotels offer excellent catering facilities for large parties. Expect an extensive menu choice ranging from A La Carte to more traditional menu choices. In such venues everything's 'all in', including catering and restaurant facilities, entertainment, and of course your accommodation is just upstairs as you'll be wanting to sample excellent choices of wines and real ales!!
The 'restaurant with rooms' experience is highly recommended, and you'll find a selection of these across Yorkshire, for example in West Yorkshire, York and Harrogate. Some superb restaurants provide luxury accommodation above select restaurants, often because they are located off the beaten track, perhaps in superb walking country. No need to rush fine dining - it's a great idea!
Yorkshire Restaurants and Awards
The AA Rosette Awards are given to UK restaurants annually which achieve the highest standards in food quality. Many Rosette Awards are given to restaurants within hotels, or increasingly to restaurants which provide rooms. The awards are recognised as prestigious by leading chefs, a sure sign that they hint at fine dining excellence.
Check out the AA Restaurant Guide 2004, in book form or also on the webb at 'theaa.com'. This guide lists 1800 of the best places to eat in Britain, and is based on AA inspections and Rosette Awards. There's also plenty of information on wines, prices and where to find restaurant venues.
