Nicknamed 'the Knightsbridge of the North', the Victoria Quarter in Leeds gives the city a real shopping edge. Here fine shops sit to great effect within the spectacular historic setting of Leeds' Victorian arcades. The Victoria Quarter's shopping arches sit one side of Briggate, whilst opposite more fine shops, with a quirky angle a la No 15 Boutique, Argent and Chimp and Hip, sit within Thornton's and Queen's Victorian Arcades.

The Light, Leeds Corn Exchange & Leeds Shopping Centres

The Victoria Quarter is complemented by numerous shopping centres and spaces wtihin Leeds City Centre. Some are new modern indoor shopping spaces like the superb leisure come retail space at The Light off The Headrow whilst others like the spectacular Leeds Corn Exchange are housed with fine Grade 1 listed Victorian buildings. The Light is a funky mix of fine restaurant/bistros and unique clothing and jewellery outlets. One of the Leeds' Vue cinemas is located here too. Head to The Light for the funky fashions of Lambretta, Joy, O'Neill and jewellery by Mikey and Phillip Stoner. The former Victorian coliseum shaped Grade 1 Listed Leeds Corn Exchange east of the railway station has now been beautifully fully restored. Inside you'll find a mix of mostly fine food restaurants alongside fine food retail outlets and select cookware and kitchen outlets for the home. More up and coming chic shopping space in Leeds can be found around Granary Wharf. For affordable high street fashion head to the St Johns Shopping centre with entrances off Merrion Street, Dortmund Square and Albion Street. More high street fashion and well known high street names are along pedestrianised Briggate. The big Leeds White Rose Shopping Centre sits just south of the city centre (see map via the weblink right). Leeds is a city that caters for a choice of shopping tastes from designer to vintage. Checkout Europe's largest indoor market at Kirkgate Market in the heart of the city centre.
