Pateley Bridge & The Nidderdale Countryside

This eastern area of the Yorkshire Dales holds indescribable diverse mix of natural beauty. In upper North Nidderdale you'll find the River Nidd flowing on the slopes of Great Whernside. Visit How Stean Gorge which is a sticking 80 foot ravine.

The Nidderdale area is also renowned for its reservoirs, especially Gouthwaite Reservoir which is home to many rare species of birds and wildlife.

Pateley Bridge is stunningly in bloom in summer (it's a two time winner of the 'Britain in Bloom' competition). Perfect as a base for exploring the Nidderdale area of the Dales, Patley Bridge's High Street is crammed with delightful country pubs and specialist shops. Pateley Bridge serves as centre for the annual Nidderdale festival in high summer/June and is home to the Nidderdale Museum housed in a Victorian workhouse.

Masham - Home of Breweries

Masham is the home of the Black Sheep Brewery. This brewery has its own visitor centre where you can find out how the beer is made. Plenty of samples to be had as well! www.blacksheepbrewery.com

Masham is also the home of Theakstons - this really is an area not to be missed by real ale lovers.
