The 53 mile long circular walking trail - the Nidderdale Way either begins or ends at Pateley Bridge, hence the town's popularilty as a Nidderdale walking base.

If you like rocks then this is the equivalent of 'Rock City'. The leaflet says you can 'meet old friends and discover some new faces amongst these age-old rock formations'. This seems a bit far-fetched, however they're certainly striking! You'll need good walking boot and best not to climb them without special equipment!
